'06 FC Montco Victory Premier boys raising their trophy after winning the EPYSA Presidents' Cup!
Congrats to the MUSC VICTORY for winning the 2019 Fall Turf Classic! Going 4-0-0 & not giving up a single goal!
October 26, 2018 - Friday night game, under the lights, in an old quarry! Great effort boys!
November 2015 — Congratulations to our 0-Fivers boys on a wildy successful fall season, their first in travel soccer.
The 2015 fall season was their first in the competitive Delco Soccer League. Their previous years from U7 to U9, they part of Methacton Uniteds Directors Development Program, focused on player development over wins and losses. The seeds sown in those early years began to yield fruit this fall.
After a busy 2015 summer focused on training and friendlies, they were well prepared for the upcoming season. Our U10 0-Fivers wrapped up their fall campaign with a successful 8-0-1 record, placing 1st in Division 3.
Opponent | Result | Score |
@ Delaware Revolution 05 Red | Win | 6-3 |
West-Mont United Union 05 | Win | 10-3 |
@ Nether United 05/06 Black | Win | 4-3 |
@ Delaware Saegerbund SC Kicker Tenancingo | Win | 5-1 |
@ Boyertown SC United 05 | Loss | 6-4 |
@ TEYSA Chelsea | Win | 4-1 |
Rose Tree SC Impact | Win | 6-0 |
Continental FC Celtic | Win | 5-0 |
@ Nether United 05/06 Orange | Win | 4-3 |
Based on their success in the fall season and their continued rate of development, the 0-Fivers intend play the 2016 fall season in Division 1 of Delco Soccer League, or Division 2 of the Atlantic Premier League. Job well done, 0-Fivers! Congratulations!
Oct 11, 2015 — The 0-Fivers had another awesome tournament run this past weekend at the 2015 George Pratt Memorial Soccer Tournament in Cape May, NJ. Hoping to continue their winning streak from their Delco league campaign, the 0-Fivers faced very tough competition in the top-ranked Columbus division. The 0-Fivers had a very solid 2-0 start to the tournament in their round-robin bracket, defeating hosts Cape Express Breakers 4-3 and Manalapan SC United 5-4 on day one.
Day two was a tougher challenage as the 0-Fivers faced the LTSC Strikers, who were also coming off of an undefeated day one. The game was a nail-biter, with 0-Fivers losing a late lead on penalty kick. The game ended in a 3-3 draw, leaving the 0-Fivers tied for first with the LTSC Strikers in their bracket. With first place in their sights, if both teams were to beat their final opponents, their fate would be decided by goal differential.
In their final and deciding match of the tournament, the 0-Fivers faced the familiar Vereinigung Erzgebirge (VE) Kickers, a team from the league next door. VE started strong and led the game from start to finish, beating the 0-Fivers 5-4 in a close and well-contested match. The 0-Fivers left everything on the pitch throughout the tournament, and our coaches and parents could not have been prouder.
Outstanding work 0-Fivers!
September 6, 2015 — What a weekend! Our 0-Fivers team, fresh off an extended summer campaign to learn the tactical nuances of the 8v8 game, got their first bonafide test and passed with flying colors! In the first of what will be many premier tournament appearances, the boys came home as champions, lifting the cup for the Premier Silver division of the Lou Ramos Classic 2015.
Moreover, the boys did it wearing pink jerseys to both bring attention to breast cancer and honor a dear friend.
The 0-Fivers opened the weekend with a convincing 6-2 win against Montgomery United Ajax, an ICSL Division 1 team. No sooner had the refree blown his whistle, the boys put their skills on display, and quickly proved to be too much for MonU to handle.
With one game in hand, the 0-Fivers took up the challenge against Coventry FC Hotspurs, a Delco Division 2 team. The boys felt confident after their earlier win, but their sluggish pregame warm-up foreshadowed a flat first half that put the 0-Fivers in a deep 4-1 hole at halftime.
Always a resilient bunch—the boys weathered many a storm during their academy days—the Fivers were undeterred and came out swinging for the second half. If you hadnt before seen the fight in this group, you would have seen all of it in the second half, as they clawed their way back to not only tie the game at 4-all, but take a 5-4 lead. However, with seconds left, the 0-Fivers were chasing one of Coventrys forwards on a fast break and committed an ill-timed foul 25 yards from goal. Coventry took the direct kick and scored, then the final whistle quickly followed. UNLUCKY…but it could have been much worse considering the 0-Fivers first half performance.
The 0-Fivers faced Delaware Rush 05 Black to start the second and last day of tournament play. From the first whistle to the last, the Fivers showcased combination play and a nearly impregnable defense, going on to win 7-2 and earning themselves a spot in the finals. With a whopping five hours before the finale, and an important lesson learned a day earlier about rest and recovery, the boys went home to rest in anticipation of meeting a quality Harleysville Hotspurs opponent in the final.
Having just played a friendly together two weeks prior, there was a familiarity and sportmanship among the teams that even led to the boys sitting together to watch a portion of the match that preceded their final. However, once their own match got underway, the competitive spirit of both teams kicked and the Harleysville side struck quickly at the 10 mark. Unfazed and calm, having been down more just a day earlier, the Fivers tallied a quick response and added two more, ultimately finishing the half up 3-1.
With a two-goal lead in hand, the focus area for the second half were quality defense and an aggressive, possession-oriented offense: just their style. Harleysville proved to be every bit as fast and aggressive as expected, creating many opportunities for themselves, but unable to complete that final pass. The 0-Fivers had held them off, winning the championship final by a score of 3-1.
Congratulations, boys! The coaches and parents are extremely proud of the effort you put in for each game...and it certainly paid dividends!
Aug 2, 2015 — Congratulation to the U10 Boys 0-Fivers for a tough run through the top flight in their age group at the 27th Annual West Chester Summer Classic. Down a few players in the heat and up against some of the best teams in the area, the boys had their work cut out for them, but played strong and made us all proud.
Go Fivers!
Updated July 26, 2015 — Let the summer tour begin!
Games are the best teacher. It is part of our philosophy at Methacton United and for a group of players fresh out of the academy-style Directors Development Program, there is no better way to learn the 8v8 sytems than to play—over and over and over again.
By the end of summer, the boys will have played in roughly 20 friendlies against clubs near and far. They will be more than prepared for the competition in Delco Division 3. We, the coaches and parents, are excited and expect a successful fall campaign.
The most impressives aspect of the summer training, by far, has been their growth and progress as a group. Early season tactical mistakes have been replaced by strategic 8v8 play; wide play has become a staple of their game; support play and movement off the ball is becoming the norm rather than the exception.
What a beautiful day for soccer! The 0-Fivers played host today to Main Line Soccer (D 8-8), Continental FC Arsenal (W 9-1), and the Phoenixville Firebirds (W 6-5)in a multiple team playday, something that has fast become a staple of Methaton United summers.
As the undercard to the CONCACAF Gold Cup final, the 0-Fivers headed south to Nether United for a pair of games against a pair of mixed-ability Nether United teams. The offensive firewords were again on display, but the days tactical focus was on defensive shape and tactics.
